ECTRIMS SUMMER SCHOOL 2016 Use of MR imaging in diagnosis and management of multiple sclerosis 28-30 June 2016, Vienna / Austria (2)

The 4th ECTRIMS Summer School will focus on ‘Use of MR imaging in diagnosis and management of multiple sclerosis’ and will take place from 28-30 June 2016 in Vienna, Austria.

This Summer School is directed to young MS clinicians and investigators with an interest in the diagnosis and management of multiple sclerosis (MS). Please click HERE for download of the programme.

The immediate objective is to equip them with the knowledge and expertise they need to (i) accurately diagnose MS, (ii) evaluate the effectiveness of drugs in MS, (iii) understand the value of non-conventional and quantitative MR for assessing the structural, metabolic and functional damage, and (iv) become familiar with the different techniques used for imaging analysis.

Our intention is to have a selected audience of approximately 40 delegates. Applications will be selected by the Summer School Organising Committee.

Course Description
The MDS European Section Winter School for Young Neurologists is an opportunity for young neurologists who are interested in specializing in Movement Disorders to receive in-depth instruction from internationally-recognized Movement Disorders experts.

Students will attend large lectures and panel discussions with question and answer sessions and will have the opportunity to examine patients with movement disorders and engage in a differential diagnosis with the international experts. Students will present their own case-study videos to small groups for discussion and critique, and will be involved in group presentations and case discussions. Topics will focus on parkinsonism, hyperkinetic disorders and complex issues in movement disorders.

A working knowledge of English is required as well as working knowledge of the diagnosis and general management of various movement disorders.

Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, you should be able to accomplish the following:

  • Examine a patient with a movement disorder
  • Reach a diagnosis on straightforward movement disorders cases
  • Propose a differential diagnosis on more complex movement disorders patients
  • Present a movement disorders case history
  • Design, review, and modify a patient treatment plan

Recommended Audience
This course is intended for young neurologists within five years of their completion of general neurological training who are interested in specializing in movement disorders, and young neurologists who are currently training in movement disorders. The course is open to members of the MDS European Section with a particular focus on supporting young neurologists from Eastern Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.

Dragi colegi,

Avem onoarea și plăcerea de a vă invita în numele Comitetului de Organizare și al Comitetului Științific, să participați la cea de a XXIII-a Conferință a Societății Române Impotriva Epilepsiei (SRIE), ce va avea loc la București în perioada 19-21 noiembrie 2015, intr-o locatie inedita – Casa Cesianu.

Conferinta este deja o traditie si reuneste specialisti din toate domeniile care se ocupa de epilepsie.

În cadrul programului științific al conferinței ne-am propus anul acesta să abordăm o tema cu implicație practică în activitatea noastră zilnică, și anume: Epilepsia in diversele patologii ale copilului si adultului.

Tinerii noștri colegi, rezidenți dar și specialiștii neurologi, vor avea ocazia să discute realizări recente în diagnostic și tratament.

Așteptăm cu nerăbdare să vă revedem la conferința SRIE și vă încurajăm să participați activ prin trimiterea în termenul cerut a rezumatelor pentru prezentări orale și postere.

Nutrim speranța că prin participarea Dumneavoastră vom reuși să continuăm tradiția și să facem și din acest eveniment un succes. Societatea a functionat prin entuziasmul si dedicarea presedintelui sau, Profesor Dr. Radu Rogozea, dar provocarile viitorului necesita o munca de echipa.

Dorim sa revigoram Societatea prin primirea de noi membri, prin dezvoltarea de noi proiecte vizand atat programe de formare profesionala in diverse arii ale epileptologiei (electroencefalografie, tratament medicamentos si alternativ, femeia cu epilepsie, etc), cat si sociale cu privire la pacientul cu epilepsie si drepturile lui.

Asocierea cu organizatiile de pacienti va duce la o mai buna intelegere a tuturor problemelor de care se lovesc persoanele cu epilepsie, pentru ca impreuna sa putem gasi cele mai bune solutii de abordare si rezolvare a acestora.

ECTRIMS Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Exchange Programme

This fellowship is offered to young postdoctoral neuroscientists to facilitate their conduct of and training in basic, clinical or applied research related to MS in European laboratories or clinics. The goal is to maximize exchange of information and help grow the pool of well-trained scientists focused on MS.
ECTRIMS will support up to three fellowships annually, each with duration of 1 or 2 years, with an annual stipend of €50,000. Fellows are expected to identify a European research training environment and mentor prior to application and to devote full-time to research and training during their fellowship period (up to 10% time and effort can be spent on teaching and/or clinical care).

ECTRIMS Multiple Sclerosis Clinical Training Fellowship Programme

This fellowship is offered to neurologists and other physicians to provide the opportunity to learn the latest techniques in patient management and care and to help foster their careers as MS physicians. It is available for 3, 6 or 12 months and must be performed under the direction of a senior clinical mentor at a European MS clinic and/or MS research center. Fellows may come from any location but priority will be given to candidates from developing countries.
ECTRIMS will award up to three fellowships annually, with a stipend of up to €50,000. The programme is intended to be a full-time MS clinical care training experience. This can include 'hands on' clinical care under the guidance of the mentor, correlated course work in the training institutions, and may also include time involved in clinical research under the guidance of the mentor.

ECTRIMS Multiple Sclerosis Nurse Training Fellowship Programme

This fellowship is offered to qualified/licensed European nurses to provide the opportunity for them to obtain additional expertise through practical nursing experience and training in a mentored MS environment in Europe. The aim of the programme is to enhance care and support of individuals with MS by fostering improved clinical care and education and by helping to promote best practices in nursing care throughout Europe.
ECTRIMS will support up to three fellowships each year, each with duration of 6 months to 1 year, with a stipend of up to €50,000. Training must be under the direction and mentorship of a senior MS nurse, in association with a senior MS clinician where appropriate, at a European clinical site with significant expertise in MS.

ECTRIMS-MAGNIMS Fellowship in Magnetic Resonance Imagining in MS

ECTRIMS and the European MAGNIMS (Magnetic Resonance in MS) network jointly support a postdoctoral fellowship to foster the development of young researchers in magnetic resonance studies in MS. The goal of this programme is to achieve transfer and broadening of knowledge regarding the application of magnetic resonance to MS research and to promote the researcher’s integration into the international scientific community.
ECTRIMS will support two fellowships annually, each with duration of 1 year, with an annual stipend of up to €50,000.
