![]() Atypical parkinsonian syndromes are a group of hypokinetic neurodegenerative diseases other than Parkinson's disease. Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), Corticobasal Degeneration (CBD), Multiple System Atrophy (MSA)
and Dementia with Lewy Bodies (DLB) are the most prominent representatives of this group.
Movement Disorder specialists require specific expertise and skills for adequate medical care for patients with atypical parkinsonian syndromes. International research efforts make atypical parkinsonian syndromes particularly attractive for young neurologists.
This course is designed to provide young neurologists and future experts in Movement Disorders the essential knowledge and skills required for qualified medical care and high end research in atypical parkinsonian syndromes.
Participants will attend lectures presenting the different disease entities, followed by clinical skills lectures focusing on the clinical identification specific signs and symptoms. Participants will then have the opportunity to examine individual patients with atypical parkinsonian syndromes. There will be plenty of opportunities to engage in a constructive discussions with the international experts. Attendees are also encouraged to bring own case-study videos and discuss them with faculty. A working knowledge of English is required. |
