Dear Colleague,
Brain Awareness Week gives the European Federation of Neurological Societies a
great opportunity to celebrate the brain and we recommend that you and your national
neurological society take part in this international programme! Now in its 15th year, Brain
Awareness Week is a world-wide event, reaching large audiences across the globe.
Hundreds of events took place in over 60 countries participating in Brain Awareness
Week 2009, through a truly diverse range of activities including exhibitions,
demonstrations, lectures and interactive displays, generating a huge amount of
publicity.
There are many ways in which EFNS can become involved. Perhaps members would
like to give talks at local schools, or team up with neuroscientists at their universities.
They could even collaborate with artists and actors. There are lots of ideas on the Brain
Awareness Week website. http://www.dana.org/brainweek/
The week is co-ordinated by the Dana Alliance for Brain Initiatives (New York) in
collaboration with the European Dana Alliance for the Brain - EDAB (London). The
Dana Alliances are non-profit organisations that promote the benefits of brain research.
Professors Colin Blakemore and Pierre Magistretti are Vice-Chairmen of EDAB.
Please discuss your ideas and plan your events with EDAB's help and contact Ms.
Elaine Snell at elaine[at]snell-communications.net or Tel +44 (0)20 7738 0424 - mobile
+44 (0)7973 953 794- skype: elaine.snell
We hope you will be inspired to organise events for Brain Awareness Week and be a
part of this global campaign.
Best wishes
Richard Hughes Gunhild Waldemar
